A Myocum woman told police she had a few beers before making the decision to drive on a wet night.

Alysha Simovitz, 27, appeared at Mullumbimby Local Court on Wednesday where she pleaded guilty to mid range drink driving, returning an alcohol reading of 0.112.

The court heard the Myocum woman’s Black Volkswagen Golf was pulled over around 12.30am for a random breath test on Argyle St in Mullumbimby on October 1.

Police documents state Simovitz’s breath smelt of “intoxicating liquor” and her eyes were “red and watery”.

“(Simovitz’s) actions were clumsy as she stumbled out of her personal vehicle and into the caged area of the police truck,” police documents state.

Simovitz was arrested and taken to Brunswick Heads Police Station.

Police documents state she “admitted to drinking beer at a private residence”.

The weather was overcast and the road was wet the night of this offence, court documents state.

Magistrate Karen Stafford said there was a need for the courts to deter people from drink driving and fined Simovitz $800.

Ms Stafford also disqualified Simovitz’s licence for three months and ordered she undertake a 12 month interlock period.
