Trio homeless as Bundaberg Blocks and Pavers liquidates

IN AN unusual twist, the tenants living in the house above liquidated Bundaberg Blocks and Pavers may be forced into homelessness.

Tim Jackson had been renting the property from Bundaberg Blocks and Pavers owner David Grohn for three years.

Mr Jackson said he did not have a lease and paid Mr Grohn $150 cash for the weekly rent.

About four months ago, Justin Groat and his partner moved in with Mr Jackson.

When the NewsMail spoke to the trio yesterday, they were unaware their home may be sold.

"I was hoping that wasn't going to happen," Mr Groat said.

"We've got nowhere to go. We're going to be homeless."

Mr Jackson said he noticed the business was winding down and tried to contact Mr Grohn to see if they'd need to look for a new home.

"He said no, you've got nothing to worry about," he said.

But Mr Grohn said the tenants were "aware of what's going on".

Mr Jackson refuted the claim and said when Mr Grohn's business closed on Friday angry customers came knocking, demanding answers and trying to return purchases.

He said he was worried for his own safety and that of his car downstairs.

"I'm worried they're going to throw a brick through my window," he said.

Mr Jackson said he would begin moving his things out and looking for alternate accommodation.
