Boy, 14, drowns at Chipping Norton Lake

A 14-year-old boy has died after slipping off rocks and into a lake in Sydney’s south west on Saturday.

A search for a 14-year-old boy who he fell into a lake in Sydney’s south west has ended in tragedy.

The boy was reportedly with three friends walking along the side of the rocks when he slipped and fell into the water of Chipping Norton Lake, near McMillan Park, about 3pm.

When he did not resurface, his friends raised the alarm and called emergency services.

Officers located the boy’s body about 4.45pm after a police search involving officers from the marine command and expert divers.

Police from Liverpool searched the nearby area and police divers were called into help with the recovery.

The boy’s family rushed to the scene late Saturday afternoon and later formally identified him after he was pulled out of the water.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
