Bondi Beach Public Bar’s Jordan Burrows cops it over Cowboy grab

Former Bondi Beach Public Bar licensee Jordan Burrows was on his honeymoon when Cowboys prop Scott Bolton grabbed a woman at his venue. But that hasn’t stopped Burrows copping the wrath of the Liquor and Gaming Authority. FIND OUT WHY

NRL veteran Scott Bolton pleads guilty to assault

It was the booze-fuelled boys’ night which resulted in Cowboys star Scott Bolton being convicted of grabbing a 49-year-old woman’s upper thigh.

Now the venue where it all happened, Bondi Beach Public Bar, and its ex-licensee Jordan Burrows have been scolded by liquor authorities for letting celebrations get out of control.

The Sunday Telegraph can also reveal new details of the lewd Saturday night in May 2018, with another woman removing her panties while dancing topless on a table in front of the Cowboys team.

NSW independent Liquor and Gaming Authority chairman Philip Crawford has this week delivered a scathing interim judgment of staff at the eastern suburbs venue.

Mr Crawford said a review of CCTV found Bolton “become increasingly intoxicated over this time, swaying whilst standing, bumping into other patrons and staff, using objects around the premises for support, falling over, as well as drinking other patrons’ drinks left at tables”.

“Furthermore, staff and security engage with the patron regarding his intoxication but fail to remove him prior to the alleged incident,” Mr Crawford said in the ILGA document, adding that police noticed Bolton’s clothes were “soiled”.

“Additionally, police noted other incidents of concern with a female patron indecently exposing herself to the group with the removal of her pants and underwear, and later dancing topless for a period of time.”

The Cowboys were out for a team dinner at the time.

The incident happened on April 29 — six days after then venue licensee Jordan Burrows married Dynasty actor Nathalie Kell in ceremony at Potts Point.

The couple was on their honeymoon in Byron Bay at the time of the incident.

Mr Burrows quit being the licensee in August last year and was fined in October for “licensee permit intoxication on licensed premises”.

But Mr Crawford has recommended the ILGA throw the book at the bar’s owners when it hands down its final judgment later this year.

“In consideration of the seriousness of harm that resulted from the commission of the offence, the authority considers that it may be in the public interest to take further remedial action against the licence of the Bondi Beach Public Bar,” Mr Crawford said.

In January Cowboys star Scott Bolton was given a 12-month good behaviour bond in Waverley Court after pleading guilty to the lesser charge of common assault.

The 31-year-old veteran prop last night played his first game back after the NRL banned him from the first five games of the 2019 season and fined him 5 per cent of his yearly salary.

Mr Burrows, 34, and owners of the Bondi Beach Public Bar, did not respond to requests for comment.
