Blues Guru: Origin captain Boyd Cordner puts faith in ‘Tantric energy healer’ to fix calf injury

BLUES captain Boyd Cordner has turned to an Inner Western Sydney “energy healer” who specialises in “ancient Tantric texts” for a miracle cure to his calf injury ahead of next week’s Origin decider.

A BALMAIN-based energy healer who specialises in ancient Chinese, Judaic and Indian healing traditions has emerged as NSW’s unlikely State of Origin hero.

NSW captain Boyd Cordner has turned to Kevin Niv Farrow — a master of the body and mind — in a bid to fast-track his recovery from a calf injury in time to lead the Blues into action against Queensland in next week’s Origin decider.

Cordner visited the therapist on the advice of Wayne Pearce, the clean-living former NSW and Balmain champion and father of Blues halfback Mitchell.

He even went outside his NRL club side the Sydney Roosters to enlist the help of Farrow’s alternative healing process.

“He is like an energy healer,” Cordner said.

“I don’t know, it’s spiritual ... it’s hard to explain. Sometimes they touch points (in your leg) but sometimes they will put their hand above.

“It was weird and I don’t normally do that but ... it couldn’t hurt so why not?

“I bought into it and tried to get as much out of it as I can.”

Cordner said he wasn’t sure if his usual medical team “would appreciate” the alternative therapy.

So far, he has only had one session.

The Blues might feel the need for some left-field help, having lost 10 of the past 11 series to the Maroons.

Mr Farrow told The Daily Telegraph how he corrected Cordner’s bioelectrics to have him ready to go against Queensland.

“We look at the whole system of being bioelectrical,” the founder and director of AcuEnergetics said.

“We go, ‘You don’t have a sore muscle, you have a blockage of electricity in the muscle’. What we want to do is release the electricity blockage in the muscle.

“Then it will heal faster.

“It (the calf) felt a lot better to me. It was interesting because the temperature in his leg was really different from the beginning to the end of the session.

“It was actually normal at the end. To start with, the temperatures were distinctly different from one leg to the other. I don’t really see that very often.”

Mr Farrow said he had fixed Wayne Pearce’s “bad back” two years ago.

“He couldn’t get it fixed. I gave him a couple of sessions and sorted the back out,” he said.

Asked whether he considered that he could be the man to get Cordner on the field to become a state hero, Farrow said: “If we win.”

Mr Farrow’s website says: “Kevin studied the classics of Chinese medicine, the ancient Kabbalah texts, the Vedas, the ancient Tantric texts of India and Tibet, the alchemical writings of the Middle Eastern and European philosophers and the teachings of western bioscience pioneers.

“He learnt and practised both Buddhist and Taoist Qi Gong, esoteric Tibetan Tantra, became a master in Reiki and Sekhem and studied every energy practice and meditation technique he could find.”

Pearce was full of praise for Farrow, saying: “Kevin has developed an energy healing method that is incredibly effective and I’m sure Boyd will benefit and be good for game three.”

Cordner hopes to run by tomorrow and be fit and ready for NSW’s main training session in Kingscliff this Sunday.
