Blackheath shooting: Two men charged with attempted murder

Two men charged with attempted murder following a shooting in the NSW Blue Mountains — which left two other men critically injured — did not apply for bail when they appeared in court today.

Two men charged with attempted murder over a double shooting in the Blue Mountains have not applied for bail.

Jaiden Hooper, 23, from Katoomba and Mitchell Tyler Honey, 21, stayed in their cells when their matters were mentioned in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

Neither man applied for bail and they were both ordered to face Katoomba Local Court on Monday.

Both men are facing five charges, including two counts of shooting with intent to murder, two of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

According to court documents the two men allegedly attempted to murder Luke Bennett-Hayes and Blake Cubby.

Honey and Hooper are also accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to the two men.

Hooper was also charged with one count of possessing an unregistered single action lever shotgun.

Honey was charged with possessing an unregistered shortened shotgun.

Panicked neighbours heard several shots fired outside the home on Connaught Rd in Blackheath abut 4.30am on Friday.

Paramedics and police arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

One male, 25, suffered gunshot wounds to his lower back and the other, 31, suffered gunshot wounds to his torso.

Air-borne paramedics called to the scene landed in thick fog just outside the nearby Blue Mountains Heritage Centre.

The two injured men were yesterday in a critical condition at Westmead Hospital.

Insp McWhirter said the 25-year-old is the more serious injury and underwent surgery on his bowel.
