A high-ranking bikie boss allegedly threatened to cut off the fingers of a Sydney businessman over a $3 million debt that police allege was borrowed from a criminal syndicate.

Sayed Moosawi, a one-time president of the Nomads Parramatta chapter, was shopping at Westfield in Hornsby last Friday when police swooped and arrested him over allegations he was standing over a finance loan broker.

Moosawi, 32, was charged with demanding property while in company with intent to steal after the businessman went to Burwood police in November last year claiming he was threatened during a meeting at a restaurant.

Police allege the businessman had borrowed $3 million in his capacity as a loan broker from a criminal syndicate, who then on sold the debt to a third party.

It is then alleged that Moosawi, whose social media account shows him wearing Nomads bikie colours and a president badge, was acting on behalf of the third party to recoup the $3 million.

The businessman and his father met with Moosawi at a Lebanese restaurant at Mount Druitt where police allege Moosawi produced a firearm and demanded an instalment of $300,000 be electronically transferred immediately.

In a statement of facts tendered to Parramatta Local Court, police allege Moosawi told the businessman: “If your father wasn’t here you would be gone”.

During that same meeting, police allege Moosawi made numerous references to cutting off the businessman’s fingers if the debt was not repaid.

Police allege the businessman later received text messages saying “You f**king putrid dog”, and along with other taunts about severing fingers.

On a separate occasion in September 2024, Moosawi met with the businessman at Westfield in Burwood where police allege he demanded another $300,000 instalment be paid.

He then allegedly told the businessman he would “throw him off a balcony” if the payment was not received, the facts sheets state.

The two men then met again in October, at a club in Lidcombe, where more threats were made against the businessman along with references to cutting off his fingers, police allege.

Detectives from Burwood Local Area Comment set up strike force Merdingato to investigate the allegations, and arrested Moosawi on Friday while he was shopping at Hornsby.

He faced Parramatta Local Court on Saturday where his lawyer Zemarai Khatiz entered a plea of not guilty, and said his client would vigorously defend the charge.

Moosawi was remanded in custody until February 18.

The court heard police are looking for two other men who were in Moosawi’s company during two of the meetings, who have not been located detectives were aware of their identity.

A NSW Police spokesman said the investigation was ongoing.
