Barnaby's bizarre Christmas message

Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce has posted a bizarre video rant on Twitter, declaring he is sick of the government in his life.

The 48-second clip shows a visibly sweaty Mr Joyce filming himself while feeding cattle.

“You’ve got to wonder what politicians do on Christmas Eve, well when it’s drought, feed cattle,” he says.

“Now you don’t have to convince me the climate is not changing, it is changing.

“My problem has always been whether you believe new taxes are going to change it back.

“I just don’t want the government anymore in my life, I am sick of the government being in my life.”

He goes on to say: “The other thing I think we’ve got to acknowledge, there is a higher authority beyond our comprehension,” he says before pointing the camera towards clouds in the sky.

“And right up there in the sky, unless we understand, that has got to be respected, then we’re just fools, we’re going to get nailed.”

Social media users were quick to point out if Mr Joyce meant what he said about the government in his life, he could resign from it.

This comes as Prime Minister Scott Morrison and opposition leader Anthony Albanese used their Christmas messages to thank those helping fight the nation’s bushfires.

“Seriously, if you don’t want the government in your life you wouldn’t be part of the very problem let alone be taking their money. Merry Christmas,” someone wrote on Twitter.

“Yeah does seem strange for a politician, to say that they are sick of government in their life … there is a simple solution,” another Twitter user replied to the video.

Another said: “Man who relies on government for salary, healthcare, roads and probably drought relief wants government out of his life.”
