FORMER English cricket captain Michael Vaughan and the Barmy Army have paid tribute to cricket tragic Richard Cousins, who died in the Sydney seaplane tragedy.
Millionaire Mr Cousins, 58, and his sons William, 25, and Edward, 23, had built their Australian trip around following their team at the test matches.
They died with Mr Cousins’ fiancee Emma Bowden, 48, and her daughter Heather, 11.
“Saddened to hear of the passing away of Richard Cousins and some family members in Sydney ... Great man who loved the game of cricket ... Thoughts to all his family,” Vaughan tweeted.
The Barmy Army plan to hold a minute’s silence tomorrow before their matches against the The Richies, and then before the ‘The Bashes’, the T20 Series between The Barmy Army and their Australian counterparts, ‘The Fanatics’, at Coogee Oval.
“It’s very sad to hear of the loss of any cricket fan around the world especially when it’s so close to home,” The Barmy Army’s Chris Millard told The Daily Telegraph today.
“The family was over here like thousands of Barmy Army and other English cricket fans to watch the England team and to pass in such a tragic way is awful.
“Our thoughts are with their families.”
The Cousins’ attended the MCG for the Boxing Day tests and had tickets for the final test at the SCG.
