Ballot opens for coveted New Year’s Eve Harbour Bridge viewing tickets

The hottest ticket in town offers the best New Years Eve seat in the house. Here’s how to enter the ballot giving 7000 lucky locals get the chance to watch Sydney’s iconic celebrations.

The hottest ticket in town will be soon be up for grabs, as 7000 lucky locals get the chance to watch Sydney’s iconic New Year’s Eve celebration from arguably the best seat in the house.

The ballot for Transport for NSW’s annual New Year's Eve on the Cahill Expressway event opens at 9am on Thursday, where two lots of 3500 free tickets will be up for grabs for residents across the state to experience this “lifetime opportunity”.

Those who are fortunate enough to secure the coveted tickets will be able to watch the famous 9pm or midnight firework displays from one of the city’s prime vantage points to catch a glimpse of the colorful pyrotechnics.

Transport for NSW Secretary Josh Murray said while “a lot may have changed in the world and on our roads, the view of the fireworks from the Cahill Expressway remains

unrivalled” as the ballot enters in 25th year.

“People come from around the globe to witness the spectacle that is Sydney Harbour on New Year’s Eve, and for a quarter of a century we’ve been transforming one of

the city’s hardest-working roadways into one of our best viewing platforms,” Mr Murray said.

“Transport’s commitment to giving back to the community through this event is also unchanged.

“We’re excited to give thousands of people an opportunity to join us for breathtaking views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and city skyline, fantastic food trucks, performers and space to spread a picnic blanket, or book add-ons like hampers and picnic table seating at our alcohol and smoke-free event.”

Entrants will be able to select their preference of timeslot to view on the Transport NSW website, with a maximum of five tickets available for each winner.
