BIG ASK: Treasurer Scott Morrison is talking about reining in spending.

IT appears Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison has put up a smoke screen about government spending being reined in.

I refer to the following:

Tax break for small business; deeming rate lifted to give part pensioners a rise in pension; proposed tax break for high earners to prevent bracket creep; the exemption from assets test claim for main home allows luxury home owners to be below assets test claims and able to qualify for part pension.

These tax breaks are paid for with the tax that would have been collected from them before breaks and would be regarded as government spending. Two government members disregard spending cuts with allowance claims.

At the other end of the scale you'll find:

Cuts to disability pensioner recipients, bulk billing claims for blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and other cuts; check on subsidised medicines to find cuts; checks on Centrelink to find what can be cut; politicians' travel allowances still worded for favourable interpretation as shown by claims by the Honourable Bronwyn Bishop and the Honourable Julie Bishop.
