Tailgaters: Seriously, what's wrong with you?

"To my buddy in the blue, souped-up Skyline, who I'm guessing is no stranger to riding up people's rears, why are you more important than everybody else?"

IT'S dark and wet.

My knuckles are turning white from gripping the wheel too hard.

I am 100 per cent relying on my windscreen wipers to see five metres in front of me as the rain absolutely pelts down and soaks the road I'm driving on.

And still as I look in my rear-view mirror, even in these terrible conditions, there's some halfwit tailgating me.

I'm already nervous, being very cautious and driving at a safe distance behind the car in front of me, just in case they need to brake suddenly.

So, to my buddy in the blue, souped-up Skyline, who I'm guessing is no stranger to riding up people's rears, what makes you think you're more important than everybody else on the road?

Where are you going that's so imperative you think it's okay to put everyone else at risk?

Finally, the road opened up into two lanes and the driver overtook me.

But the option wasn't open for very long and I watched as he began to tailgate the next car.

And if the driver happens to be reading this, I'm not singling you out but you do make a bloody ripper example of the type of person who shouldn't hold a licence.

We are all trying to get somewhere, but we all want to get home to our families too.

If I could see clearly enough I would have taken this guy's numberplate down and reported him to the police.

It's something we should all be doing: reporting bad drivers to warn them they aren't welcome on our roads.

There are just too many traffic crash-related accidents and deaths caused by this sort of behaviour.
