A teenage driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and other traffic offences following a two-car collision on the north coast which claimed the life of a 62-year-old man.

A teenage driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and other traffic offences following a two-car collision on the north coast last year.
Emergency services were called to Tamarind Dr, Ballina, about 5.45pm on September 18 following reports of a crash between a Honda Accord and a Hyundai i30.
Police removed the 62-year-old Hyundai driver from the wreck but he could not be revived.
The then 18-year-old Honda driver was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
A crime scene was established as specialist crash investigators began an investigation into the crash.
Following inquiries, the now 19-year-old driver was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving – occasioning death, negligent driving and driving on or over a continuous line near painted island.
The teenager was given a court attendance notice on Tuesday to appear before Ballina Local Court on May 1.
His licence has been suspended.
