A SOARING glass entrance and spacious terminal are the first glimpses of what will be one of the country’s largest airports when $5.3 billion Badgerys Creek open in 2026.

Early planning works and sketches obtained by The Daily Telegraph show for the first time that the Western Sydney Airport will have a glass central terminal connected to a train station.

The early designs come as Urban Infrastructure Minister Paul Fletcher will today open the WSA Co offices in Penrith as more detailed planning gets under way.

The sketches also show the soaring glass entrance.

Mr Fletcher said airports around the world “show what is possible with careful design and innovation”

“We want to see an airport that all Australians and the people of Western Sydney can be proud of,” he said.

“Opening WSA Co’s office in Liverpool’s CBD is an important next step in delivering Western Sydney Airport by 2026.”

The massive airport is expected to support up to 28,000 jobs by 2031, just five years after it opens.

Liverpool mayor Wendy Waller said the early designs and the opening of tenders to begin work at Badgerys Creek had finally put scepticism about whether the airport would ever be built to rest.

The glass terminal also features a sleek connection to the train station.

“We have witnessed Liverpool’s rise from the fringes of Sydney to where we are now — standing at the centre of Sydney’s growth region and with a new airport being built to connect us with the world,” she said.
