The 70-year-old property developer lodged a notice of intention to appeal in the NSW Supreme on May 9.

A jury found Medich guilty of McGurk’s murder and the subsequent intimidation of his wife Kimberley on April 23 this year, following a 10-week retrial in the Sydney’s historic King Street court complex.

The jury found Medich had ordered the hit on McGurk, 45, who was executed in front on his 9-year-old son outside their Cremorne home on Sydney’s lower north shore in September, 2009.

During the trial the court heard he ordered to contract killing because the pair was embroiled in several costly legal disputes and Medich thought he was “the laughing stock of the eastern suburbs” because McGurk owed him millions of dollars.

Medich was brought down by his close confidant — one-time boxer and Qantas steward - Fortunato “Lucky” Gattellari. Gattellari gave evidence against his former bosom buddy in exchange for a reduced sentence.

“He’s got to go, I’ll get you the money,” Gattellari recalled Medich telling him in their Leichhardt office.

“This f — ing bastard is ruining my life,” Medich said.

Medich’s intention to appeal was lodged by Robyn Richardson Law - described as a boutique Criminal Law practice on its website.

Ms Richardson did not wish to comment when contacted by The Daily Telegraph.

Medich is currently in custody at Silverwater’s Metropolitan remand and Reception Centre but is likely to be shipped off to a regional prison after he is sentenced.

He is due to face a sentencing hearing - where a number of victim impact statements are expected to be read - next Thursday, May 31
