These tiny pups might look tough but the gentle giants are quickly becoming Australia’s favourite family dog.
Australian Bulldog breeder Joubert Esber – from The Dog Father Australia in Bargo – said the breed had grown in popularity in recent years because of their easygoing personality.
“Aussie bulldogs are becoming the new American Staffy in Australia. They’re becoming the new everyday Australian dog and a popular family pet,” Mr Esber said.
“They might look tough but I say to people don’t judge a book by its cover. They definitely are not aggressive.
Priced between $2000 and $4000, Australian Bulldogs are more affordable than other breeds and don’t have the same health problems in the Australian heat as the English breed.
With a moderate to high energy level and soft personality, the breed is especially good with children.
