A major supermarket has launched an investigation after anti-Israel posters, which instructed customers not to buy certain foods – including Israeli couscous – were put up throughout a Sydney store.
Several posters were spotted at Coles in Bondi Junction on Tuesday afternoon, set up by pro-Palestine protesters in front of trolleys full of Nestle, Kelloggs and Coca-Cola items.
“Take action against Israeli-genocide,” the posters read.
“Boycott these products … Free Palestine.”
Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-CEO Alex Ryvchin told the Telegraph the incident was “not a legitimate protest”.
“Targeting a store where hundreds of Jewish Australians shop each day is not legitimate protest,” he said.
“It is yet another attempt to intimidate our community, make us feel alone and attacked, thereby driving a wedge between us and our fellow Australians.”
A Coles spokesman told the Telegraph the incident was under investigation.
“We were made aware of posters being placed on four of our trolleys in one store yesterday,” they said.
“They were removed immediately, and our team is investigating.”
