They say age is just a number, and for 102-year-old Dorothy Smith, the saying rings truer than ever.
After a lifetime of adventure, she has finally fulfilled her lifelong dream — visiting Sydney.
Hailing from San Francisco, Ms Smith has now completed her remarkable journey to every continent on Earth, with her visit to Australia being the final piece.
“I love visiting Sydney. It’s a beautiful city, the people are charming, the food is good, the scenery is just wonderful, and even the weather’s nice,” Ms Smith said.
Accompanied by her daughter, Adrienne, Ms Smith’s time in Sydney was nothing short of iconic, with a Sydney Harbour cruise, up-close koala and kangaroo encounter at the zoo, a tour of the Sydney Opera House, and a visit to Bondi Beach to dip her toes.
Over 50 years older than the iconic Opera House, her passion for travel remains boundless.
“It’s a big world, each country is different, each country has something to offer, and I just want to see them all, I don’t want to miss anything.”
Sharing her secret to living a long healthy life, Ms Smith said exercise, eating healthy, staying hydrated and most importantly having fun is key.
Destination NSW partnered with the popular YouTube channel Yes Theory, boasting 9.2 million subscribers, and Qantas to help make Ms. Smith’s dream a reality.
