Saturday Confidential can reveal children from two of Australia’s wealthiest families — the Valmorbidas and the Holmes a Courts — tied the knot in Melbourne on Friday night.
Amanda Valmorbida is part of Melbourne’s wealthy wholesaling family, while Tom Holmes a Court is the son of Peter, who owned a share of the South Sydney Rabbitohs with Russell Crowe.
It is third times lucky for the couple, whose wedding plans were cancelled several times during Covid lockdowns.
The long-time couple have been dating for just under a decade and have become a fixture on the Sydney social scene, quietly getting engaged in 2020.
A Sydney contingent descended on Melbourne on Friday with the nuptials to take place at St Patrick’s Cathedral, with a reception to follow at the Valmorbidas’ sprawling Toorak mansion.
Tim Holmes a Court’s father, Peter, is the son of Australia’s first billionaire, Robert Holmes a Court, and one of Australia’s richest women, Janet Holmes a Court.
The wealthy Valmorbida family is famed for wholesaling La Gina canned tomatoes and Sirena tuna to Australian in the ’70s.
But they became a household name as the family behind importing the Lavazza coffee brand and bringing a party vibe to Flemington’s famed Birdcage.
Patriarch John Valmorbida told Saturday Confidential he was looking forward to the festivities. “She’s my baby girl and I can’t wait for it. He is a lovely boy, too, and we are all looking forward to it,” he said ahead of the wedding.
