NSW State Election 2019: Labor vs Liberal | Guide to party policies and leaders

ALMOST A COCK-UP

Noisy chickens in the backyard of Nationals leader John Barilaro nearly cost him a vital vote on polling day. The Sauce understands a supporter who lives next door to the Barilaro family was almost convinced today to vote against the Monaro MP due to the noise from his hen house. But neighbourly love prevailed.

CAN’T SPELL. CAN’T COUNT.

It’s a good thing Michael Daley is all about schools with two of his star candidates seemingly having issues with spelling and counting on their election material.

Ryde Labor candidate Jerome Laxale listed six reasons why voters needed to throw out the Liberal government - only he numbered them 1-5.

Over in the safe Labor seat of Auburn, Upper House MP Lynda Voltz forgot to proofread her material, putting an extra “r” in the name of her seat.

HELP ON HAND

Spies in the battleground Liberal seat of Heathcote say a “bus load of Chinese students” have just rolled in to help hand out how-to-votes for sitting MP Lee Evans.

“One told our volunteer that she has only been in the country for two months,” a political operative said.

It’s understood the Liberal Party have been struggling to find volunteers to hand out how to vote leaflets.

THE DALEY DIET

Win lose or draw, Labor leader Michael Daley will need to go on a post

election detox, run a few kms or even get his stomach pumped.

By 1pm on Election Day the premiership hopeful with the iron gut had

put away three sausage sandwiches, a strawberry milk, two cans of Coke

and a pie.

And that was before the designated lunch break in his schedule.

Mr Daley started the day at Matraville’s House m of Pie where he

opened with a can of coke, a sauceless pie and a strawberry milk. The

latter two being an Election Day ritual he has held since 1995.

“It’s the breakfast of champions, a pie and a strawberry milk on a

Saturday morning you can’t go wrong, keeps you going the whole day,”

Mr Daley said.

Turns out that was a white lie because it kept him going for about 20

minutes until he reached Chifley Public School where he downed a

sausage sandwich and sauce.

By 1pm Mr Daley’s hunger pains were back and he took some time out at

Penrith's Jamieson High School to put away another sausage sandwich and

washed it down with another Coke.
