The family of Khristiee Aravena who died during last week’s shocking truck crash in Alexandria have released a statement following the tragic accident.
The 44-year-old mother-of-four was waiting for a bus to the CBD when the tragic accident occurred.
The Sans Souci executive assistant was killed when the driver of the truck threw her 50m into an abandoned building which then collapsed on her.
Ms Jazairy was also studying to be a graphic designer.
Khristiee’s four children — Leon, 26, Jazmine, 22, Mariah, 18, and Benson Jazairy, 5 — described their mother’s death as “shocking” as they come to grips with their loss following the horrendous circumstances.
“There are no words to describe the pain and anguish we feel after learning it took emergency services six hours to reach her body due to the extent of the accident,” the statement reads.
“The sudden and unexpected death of their mother has left the family in a state of complete shock.”
Her children also said Khristiee had recently became a grandmother to a six-month-old grandson named Bilal.
“It is heartbreaking to think that she will not be here to see Benson’s first day of school or that Bilal will never get to see his grandmother’s beautiful smile.
“May your soul rest in peace our beautiful Mother. We will always love you. Until we meet again …”
Former husband of 22 years Baha Jazairy said he found out the tragic news through Khristiee’s brother.
Posting on social media, he said that he never stopped loving her.
“No one will ever love you as much as I did,” he said.
“You have never left my heart, even after all these years.
“I hope you’re in a better place, looking out for our beautiful children.”
To add to the tragedy, co-workers of Baha Jazairy said he was forced to return to his Uber driving job just days after the horrific accident so that he could continue supporting his children.
“His children need him and Baha should be spending time with them rather than working and not being able to grieve properly,” co-worker Rosalina Kariotakis said.
A Go Fund Me account has been created by Khristiee’s daughter Jazmine to help assist the family in paying for the funeral costs and associated expenses.
