Richmond demolishes GWS Giants 114-25 in AFL Grand Final

The inner west home of recently departed GWS Giant Adam Tomlinson has quickly found its buyer and gone under contract.

The Melbourne-bound utility had listed the Balmain home for auction next weekend, but sold midweek subject to its five-day cooling off period.

It was listed just days before the AFL grand final, when Tomlinson started on the bench in the Giants’ big loss to Richmond.

Earlier this week he signed a five-year deal with the Demons, with salary cap pressures from the Giants reportedly forcing the move.

“It’s just one of those things. You can only fit so many people into one room,” he recently told The Daily Telegraph.

The Melbourne sports press suggested his deal was for $500,000 a year.

Tomlinson, who was originally from Melbourne, recently said he loved living in Sydney.

He’s been at his Balmain home, known as Woodleigh, since 2015 when he paid $1.36 million for the two-level Victorian.

The home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The loungeroom has a gas fireplace while the kitchen and dining areas open to a rear courtyard on the 120sq m parcel.

“I’ve loved my time at the Giants … and no doubt I’ll look back on this period of my career fondly in the years to come,” Giants foundation player Tomlinson said.

The Bowral property sits at the end of a circular driveway with a Japanese cherry blossom.

Built in the late 1990s, the four-bedroom home has a separate study with fire place. There is a gym with a built-in sound system.

Set in 8010sq m of gardens, the home had been on the market for five months with $2.2 million hopes before Highlands Property Bowral agent Sam Simpson took over the listing.

LOOSE LIPS

Renovation queen Cherie Barber, who appeared on Channel 10’s The Living Room, secured $6.3 million for her Birchgrove investment waterfront.

It was bought by Cynthia and Julian Parisi, the former Goldman Sachs investment banker who heads the family’s wholesale fresh food business. It sold after 50 days with a $6.5 million price guide.
