A MAN was acquitted yesterday of murdering Kings Cross identity Todd O'Connor because a jury was unable to exclude the possibility he could have been killed by a number of enemies.

Hugo Jacobs broke down as the jury found him not guilty, despite his ex-wife changing her story between his trials.

Last July, another Supreme Court jury could not agree on a verdict.

Jacobs admitted going to a Tempe park to meet with O'Connor the night he was shot 10 times but said he fled the planned drug rendezvous because he heard gunshots.

Yesterday's verdict raised doubts about the police investigation, given two guns were used in the killing and a number of other associates were not called into question.

O'Connor, who worked at Kings Cross and Oxford St nightclubs, had a "lengthy history associated with the Ibrahim family", the jury heard.

Ex-wife Lee Ibrahim, no relation to the nightclub boss or his brothers, had said Jacobs was innocent but later claimed that he had confessed to her.
