A man questioned over the murder of Marnielee Cave has been found dead at his home

MARNIELEE Cave’s naked body was found dumped under a bridge on the NSW south coast. Now a 50-year-old man questioned over her murder has been found dead in a carport.

A MAN questioned over the murder of NSW woman Marnielee Cave has been found dead in his carport this morning.

The 50-year-old is believed to have taken his own life after police identified him as a suspect in the murder inquiry.

Ms Cave’s naked body was found under the Mogareeka Bridge in Tathra on the NSW south coast last week. The only thing on her body was her favourite butterfly pendant.

“The deceased male had been questioned by police and was one of a number of people who were considered suspects in Ms Caves death,’’ a police source said today.

“We will continue to investigate her death and the case is by no means closed with the death of one person of interest,’’ he said.

Marnielee’s was last seen on October 12 at local shops and had also taken her cat to the vet that day.

Her phone and a number of other possession are still missing.

Police believe she may have been thrown off the bridge but are also exploring the possibility she was murdered on the banks of the Bega river.

“We are still waiting for the results of forensics and DNA.’’ Police have not revealed the cause of death or if there was any signs of sexual assault.
