65yo woman dead, 13yo boy fighting for life after crash at Swan Creek near Grafton, northern NSW

A woman is dead and her young passenger left fighting for life after her car collided with a truck in the state’s north. Here’s the latest.

A woman is dead and her young passenger left fighting for life after her car collided with a truck in the state’s north.

About 5.30pm on Wednesday, police and paramedics responded to a crash involving a car and a truck at Big River Way, Swan Creek, around 10kms from Grafton.

The 65-year-old female driver of the car died at the scene.

Her 13-year-old male passenger was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The 26-year-old male driver of a truck avoided injury but was taken to Grafton Base Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from the Coffs-Clarence Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

A report for the coroner will be prepared.
