The heartbroken family of an 83-year-old believed to be killed in a “callous” hit-and-run just days after her birthday have made a heartbreaking plea with the public for assistance.

Adored grandma Jean Harrison was found battered and bruised with cuts to her neck and arm on route to her local shops at a Miller intersection in February 2015.

Paramedics transported her to hospital, where she tragically died the next day.

Despite numerous inquiries, police have been unable to solve her death. Detectives say she may have been struck in a hit-and-run but they have not ruled out other possibilities like that she may have been assaulted or fallen.

Now, it’s hoped a $350,000 reward will help police get to the bottom of the tragedy.

Daughter Linda Edwards said Ms Harrison was a healthy woman who frequently walked to the shops and had just celebrated her 83rd birthday when the incident occurred.

Ms Edwards said her mother was a caring person who loved to help others and was truly happy when surrounded by family.

Tearing up as she spoke at a press conference, she said they “are no closer to finding out what happened” despite half a decade passing, she said.

The death had robbed Ms Harrison of the chance to meet her grandchildren, she said.

“Since her passing, there have been seven more great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren born who she will never get to hold, and they will never get to know her,” Ms Edwards said.

“We just want to find out what happened to Mum. Please, if you know anything, contact police and let them know.”

Detective Inspector Timothy Liddiard, said police believe someone in the community knows something about the “callous” incident.

“Jean Harrison was a big part of the Miller community and had lived in the area for nearly 50 years,” he said.

“Our investigators believe there are those in community who know more about how she came to be injured on the roadway but for some reason have not come forward.

“To them, I say – put yourself in the shoes of the family and imagine what it would be like to not know what happened to your loved one.”
