THE three horses at the top of the betting order — Almandin, Marmelo and Humidor — were not well served at the barrier draw for the Melbourne Cup, drawing barriers 14 16 and 13 respectively.
None of the favourites drifted, though, with TAB fixed odds as Almandin remained at $7 and the other pair at $9.
Other overseas horses drew poorly, with Scottish galloper Nakeeta getting barrier 19, Irish stayer Thomas Hobson barrier 21, French galloper Tiberian barrier 23 and Red Cardinal barrier 24.
