TENS of thousands of students are about to find out if they made the grade with the release of the first round university offers today.

More than 46,000 applicants in NSW and the ACT will find out if they have received a Main Round offer to undergraduate study at university in 2016.

A further 38,000 international and non-Year 12 students will also receive offers.

From 6pm, applicants can check UAC’s new mobile app, My UAC, or UAC’s website to see if they have an offer.

UAC will also publish cut-off dates for entry into each course on its site, as well as vacancies for courses in the next offer round.

While the majority of university offers are made in the Main Round, the minimum ATAR needed for entry into each course, and details of course vacancies for February Round 1 will also be made available on UAC’s website on Wednesday.

For the thousands who don’t get into their dream course, the February Round 1 will be the next most important offer round to secure a place for tertiary study in Semester 1 in 2016.

Existing applicants can resubmit their preferences to the UAC for this round of offers or enrol in a course with a lower ATAR and entry requirements before midnight on January 27 to be included in the February Round 1.

The February Round 1 offers will be released on February 2 at 6pm. Last year, universities made 8559 offers in this offer round.

Applications for undergraduate study in Semester 1 close on Friday 12 but UAC advises applicants not to leave it this late to apply or change their preferences as not all institutions will make offers in later rounds and not all courses will still have vacancies for Semester 1.

UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

Students who don’t receive a Main Round offer will receive an email by January 21 advising them to check their correspondence via Check & Change on UAC’s website.

This will detail why they were unsuccessful for each preference.

Students can then contact the relevant institution for more advice on their study options.

Further information visit UAC.
