A MAN test driving a luxury car in Sydney’s south pulled a gun on the owner’s brother-in-law, kicked him out of the vehicle and sped off.
The distinctive, $120,000 silver 2015 Mercedes -Benz C63S sedan had been advertised privately online by its owner who took a call from a man interested in buying it.
Raj told Channel Nine he asked his brother-in-law Nash to take the caller out for a test drive as he was busy last night.
As they approached an intersection at Connells Point the carjacker threatened him with a firearm and demanded his mobile phone, before forcing him out of the vehicle.
“I said ‘Oh, we’ve got to turn right here’ and he’s taken the left and I knew something was going to go down from there,” Nash told Channel Nine.
“He said give me the keys or that’s it.”
The thief, aged in his 20s or 30s, was last seen driving in the car along Homedale Crescent. The Mercedes has the number plate 11SUMO.
Superintendent Julian Griffiths from the NSW Police said the mobile phone that was stolen from Nash was later thrown from the vehicle.
“I think it’s very concerning, particularly when a vehicle is legitimately advertised for sale and an offender takes advantage like this,” he said.
“Vehicles are used for a number of purposes but they can be held, different plates put on the vehicles and vehicles can be on-sold, even overseas.
“For the type of vehicle it is - it is an expensive vehicle - would still be of value to the offender.”
