NSW Budget Estimates: Deputy Premier Troy Grant to cop grilling

Deputy Premier Troy Grant cops a barrage of Lindt siege questions, sidesteps through greyhound grilling, and admits compensation for companies affected by Opera House closures will run into millions of dollars.

Deputy Premier Troy Grant copped a grilling this morning when he fronted Parliament’s Budget Estimates — a chance for MPs to chuck questions at ministers and their senior bureaucrats.

Mr Grant answered questions about his police portfolio, including the ongoing controversy surrounding police commissioners Cath Burn, Andrew Scipione and departed top cop Nick Kaldas. Attention then turned to NSW’s greyhound ban, which passed Parliament last week, but opposition and crossbenchers failed to land a blow and largely let the issue slip by without properly drilling down on the issue Mr Grant also said he is excited about the “massive appetite” for investment in NSW’s arts and cultural scene. Premier Mike Baird will front his own Estimates hearing from 2pm today. .
