The North Queensland Cowboys slow start has less than impressed Cowboys legend Matty Bowen, who has called the thought of the team making the top 8 “delulu” while on air.
Mango who donned the jersey for 270 games appeared on Star 106.3 with Donny on Friday morning where he played a ‘delulu or not’ game following the prime minister’s head-turning speech in parliament earlier this week.
For those playing at home who aren’t up to speed, the kids now refer to the word delusional as ‘delulu’.
At the start of the on-air game Donny said, “We need to know if these hot takes are delusional or you think there’s some merit to them?” and followed with the statement “the Cowboys can make the top eight”.
The former wing replied, “delulu” which sent the breakfast radio host into a whirl of nervous laughter as he said, “you really think it’s that touch and go?”
Bowen stood his ground and explained that the team needed to win the first few games.
“You know some teams can have a hot run mid-season after Origin period, you know as you said you have to have a great start to the year,” he said.
“And people keep mentioning the 2015 grand final they lost their first couple games but you had JT on your team.”
It comes after the Cowboys went two for two losses in the first couple games of the season, and prepare to finally secure a win against the Raiders this Saturday night at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
