During the raid, the Southern Drug Investigation Unit located 4.3kg of cannabis, $75,000 in cash, four firearms, ammunition, two replica hand guns, a replica automatic rifle, a substantial quantity of fireworks and a Toyota Landcruiser.

A 38-year-old male and 33-year-old female have been arrested and remanded in custody.

They have been charged with possession of a commercial quantity of cannabis, supply of a commercial quantity of cannabis, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of fireworks outside of the approved period.

Senior Constable Nicholas Mitchell said police would allege the pair was also involved in the transportation of an estimated 23kg of cannabis before the execution of the search warrant. “The supply of illicit substances into Alice Springs causes a ripple effect of harm to our most vulnerable community members,” Const Mitchell said.

“NT Police will continue to disrupt and prosecute anyone who attempts to transport or supply drugs into the Northern Territory.”

Both adults were due to appear in court on Wednesday.
