The NT Government has invested $3m into the Hidden Valley Motorsports track

The NT Government has invested $3m into the Hidden Valley racetrack to increase its accessibility and attract international events. Find out what it will look like.

A landmark $3m investment into the Hidden Valley racetrack will make the beloved motorsport track increasingly accessible to more Territorians, and more racing events.

The first stage of the master plan upgrade will ensure motorsport fans with disabilities have improved facilities, upgraded pathways, new lighting and better signage.

These initial upgrades will ensure fans of all abilities can more easily enjoy the action trackside, with future works to include upgrades to the pits areas.

A new control tower and medical centre is also set to be constructed, as well as a new entrance to Hidden Valley.

The remaining stages of the plan, yet to be funded, will include on-track lighting to allow for night races, a campground and a new shaded grandstand to further improve the spectator experience.

The Hidden Valley master plan aims to ensure the venue remains the NT’s premier racing facility and will put the NT on the map for large international events.

Chief Minister Eva Lawler said the developments would ensure every fan of motorsports could enjoy a day out at Hidden Valley.

“We’re delivering these upgrades in a staged way ensure that fans and competitors get the biggest benefits with the least disruption,” she said.

“The government has a vision for the Hidden Valley precinct which will make it a world class venue for Territorians, tourists who travel to Darwin for our big motorsport events and competitors.”

Minister for Sport Kate Worden said the funding was just the beginning in transforming the key piece of Territory sporting infrastructure.

“Motorsport has a strong foundation in the Territory – from those who actively participate in the sport to fans who love to attend the Supercars weekend at Hidden Valley each year.

“The $3 million funding is the beginning of our transformation of this key piece of Territory sporting infrastructure and will ensure more Territorians can safely access this world-class facility.”
