The Territory’s best nurses and midwives have been named as finalists for this years industry excellence awards, highlighting their importance during the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 140 nominations were received across nine categories, with three finalists in each recognising the outstanding performance of nurses and midwives over the past 12 months.

This year’s event will acknowledge nominees, finalists and recipients for both the 2020 and 2021 awards and provide an opportunity to celebrate the Territory’s successful response to COVID-19 during the International Year of the Nurse/Midwife.
Health Minister Natasha Fyles said the finalists had been part of an important cohort of nurses given the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These awards are a fitting tribute to nurses and midwives in the Territory who have been on the front line of the Northern Territory’s response to COVID-19,” she said.
“The record number of nominations this year speaks to the enormous gratitude Territorians have for our professional health workers.”

All nurses and midwives who hold a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and are employed in the Northern Territory at the time of nomination or within 12 months of nomination are eligible.
Award recipients for 2020 and 2021 will be announced at a gala dinner on Saturday May 15 2021.
