Repatriated Aussies head to Howard Springs

The 165 Aussies aboard the second repatriation flight from India to Darwin have now gone to Howard Springs.

• All passenger flights from India to Australia, including repatriation flights, ‘paused’ until May 15
• More stranded Australians to arrive home from India on Qantas flight

EARLIER: The second repatriation flight of Aussies stranded in COVID-ravaged India has landed in Darwin this morning with 165 passengers on board.

All 165 passengers were allowed to board the Qantas flight QF112 from New Delhi after all returning negative COVID tests during pre-screening.

The flight landed in Darwin airport at 9.20am and they will now be taken to the Howard Springs facility where they will spend two weeks in quarantine.

It comes after 80 Aussies from India arrived on the first repatriation flight last weekend.

The first flight was only half-full after 72 passengers were turned away over COVID test results.

Repatriation flights will increase from six to eight to help bring back the over 11,000 Australians stranded in India.
