Struck pedestrian flown to Adelaide in critical condition after alleged hit and run in Berrimah

A woman struck by a car in an alleged hit and run in Berrimah is in a critical condition and has been flown to hospital in Adelaide.

THE woman struck by a car in an alleged hit and run in Berrimah on Tuesday has been flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

She remains in a critical condition as of Friday afternoon.

A 17-year-old learner driver has been arrested after the incident on the Stuart Hwy near the Tivendale Rd intersection at 7.46pm.

NT Police said they were alerted to the injured woman lying on the section of road, which was closed to the public for several hours.

Detective Sergeant Corey Borton said witnesses helped police locate the vehicle of interest at an address in Jingili.

“The vehicle had damage consistent with the crash and a 17-year-old learner driver was arrested at the scene,” he said.

“Thank you to the other motorists who did the right thing,” Sgt Borton said.

“Through your information we were able to make a swift arrest.”

St John NT paramedics attended the incident in which serious injuries where reported.

“Quite serious injuries there to her legs and her hips and multiple injuries as a result of that.

This lady was taken to the hospital in a serious condition and hopefully she is recovering in hospital as we speak,” St John NT’s Craig Garraway told ABC radio.

“It is a slow recovery that type of injury.”

Major Crash Investigators attended the scene near Robbie Robbins Reserve to piece together what happened.
