NT Police confirm Nicholas safe in Kakadu

NT Police no longer hold concerns for a man originally believed to have been missing after his vehicle was left at a campground but rather discovered to have been bushwalking.

Northern Territory Police are searching for Nicholas who was last seen near Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu on Thursday.

Officers from the search and rescue section have since learned Nicholas is believed to have gone bushwalking until July 30.

Concerns were initially raised when the camp manager noticed his car still at the campsite near Jim Jim Falls, despite only paying for one night.

Police said they would like to thank the public for their assistance in the matter.

Concern for man after car left at Territory campground

NT Police are searching for a man last seen on Thursday after leaving his vehicle at a campsite at the Kakadu National Park.

The man, Nicholas, arrived at the Karnamarr Campground near Jim Jim Falls on Wednesday and paid for one night.

However, the campground manager noticed his vehicle and camp were still at the location on Friday, and after initial searches escalated their concerns to the police.

Northern Territory Police are searching for Nicholas who was last seen near Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu on Thursday.

Experienced Kakadu National Park rangers started search operations on Saturday, using a JetRanger Helicopter to help with the search.

The Northern Territory Police Search and Rescue Section began their own search efforts at 9am on Saturday.

Ground and aerial teams are part of a large search operation in the vicinity of the campground.

Police urge anyone in the area since Wednesday who may have dashcam footage or have seen or spoken to the Nicholas to contact NT Police on 131444 and quote reference number P25199346.
