Police have arrested a teenager after he allegedly threw a lit firework at a supermarket worker before allegedly knocking the man to the ground.

POLICE have arrested a teenage boy after he allegedly threw a lit firework at a northern suburbs supermarket worker before allegedly knocking a 65-year-old man to the ground.

An NT Police spokesman said the 15-year-old had come into the supermarket in Wagaman at about 3.30pm on Monday with a group of other youths before allegedly lighting the firework, which exploded near the worker’s foot causing minor injuries.

The group allegedly stole a number of items before the 65-year-old man was knocked to the ground as they left.

The boy was spotted on CCTV later that evening in Palmerston and he was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, intent to disfigure or disable by explosive and breaches of bail and a suspended sentence.

He was remanded in custody to face court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile on Sunday, another 15-year-old boy allegedly stole a number of items from a clothing shop in Casuarina before allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old boy at the bus stop.

The second 15-year-old was charged with assault, stealing and breaches of bail and a suspended sentence before facing court on Tuesday.
