A WOMAN who flew into Darwin from Pakistan has tested positive for Covid-19.

The 58-year-old female arrived on October 20.

She is asymptomatic and is under the care of the NT Health at the NT Centre for National Resilience.

Since repatriation flights to the Northern Territory began on October 23, 2020, 19,260 international arrivals have undertaken quarantine at the Howard Springs Centre for National Resilience.

A total of 205 positive Covid-19 cases have been overseas-acquired, 152 of which have been reported from international repatriation.

The woman is currently the only active Covid case in the Northern Territory who is under care at the Centre for National Resilience, posing no threat to the community.

New Zealand area declared a hotspot

THE NT chief health officer has declared the Waikato Local Government Area in New Zealand a hotspot for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory, from 8pm on November 2, 2021.

Anyone who has been in the Waikato Local Government Area in the past 14 days, with an approved exemption to travel to the NT, and arrives after 8pm on Tuesday, is required to undertake mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities.

A hotspot remains in place for the Auckland region.

Strict border controls are in place for all people travelling to the NT from a declared hotspot or public exposure site.

The border controls prohibit entry into the NT except for returning residents, or those who have obtained prior approval to enter.
