Netflix star Matt Wright has made a second surprise appearance in court in as many weeks, telling reporters he had “no comment” after leaving a call over hearing on Thursday.

During the brief administrative hearing, Wright’s lawyer Giles O’Brien Hartcher asked for an adjournment until May 9.

“There’s some matters that the parties are working on and we just ask for an adjournment for six weeks so that we can work through those issues,” he said.

Wright stands charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice following a chopper crash that killed his co-star and close friend Chris “Willow” Wilson in February 2022.

The Outback Wrangler and Wild Croc Territory star was committed to stand trial on the single charge with a number of others, including menacing or intimidating chopper pilot Sebastian Robinson, still pending.

“The other charges will remain, pending resolution of the charge now before the Supreme Court,” Wright said at the time.

“I’m hopeful the remaining charges will all be withdrawn once this charge is dealt with next year.”

Thursday’s court appearance came after Remote Helicopters Australia owner Michael Burbidge pleaded guilty in the Darwin Local Court to destroying evidence from the fatal crash.

Wright was among a number of supporters who rallied behind Burbidge for his court appearance last Friday.

On that occasion, the court heard Burbidge had jettisoned Mr Wilson’s phone as he flew away from the crash site so his wife Danielle would not see its contents.

Defence lawyer Matthew Johnston said Burbidge’s actions were “an error of judgment that occurred in a very long, stressful and emotionally taxing day” before he was convicted and fined $15,000.

Wright’s case will return to the Supreme Court on May 9.
