A CONVENIENCE store night worker has been left shaken after an armed robber threatened him with a weapon before taking off with cash in Currajong.

Townsville Police District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Scot Warrick said an armed male entered the Night Owl Convenience Store in Currajong at 11.30pm on Saturday night and threatened a staff member, before taking a knife he was using to cut fruit and turning it on him.

“It’s a cowardly thing to do to someone that’s simply at work,” Senior Sgt Warrick said.

“They were threatened with violence which is frightening at any time and no one should go to work and have to put up with that.”

Senior Sgt Warrick said anyone with information should contact police.

“CIB (criminal investigations branch) detectives are investigating and asking anyone with information to come forward and contact police,” he said.

Anyone who can assist police should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 24 hours a day, or visit crimestoppersqld.com.au
