SHE may not have been with him in court but Zoe Arnold, the wife of disgraced former MP Craig Thomson, was in Melbourne yesterday standing by her man.
A woman at the couple's Bateau Bay home on the Central Coast, understood to have been looking after their two children, said Ms Arnold was in Melbourne to support her husband.
“Where else did you think she would be?” the woman said.
Ms Arnold, who was pregnant with their first child when the credit card abuse and prostitute allegations emerged, has stoically supported Thomson throughout the four-year ordeal.
In a tell-all interview with the Australian Women's Weekly in mid-2012 she said she initially confronted him about the allegations and urged him to confess.
“I told Craig the day the first story had come out that life would be much easier for us if he confessed to visiting brothels and admitted he had used his work credit card,” she told the weekly,” she told the magazine. “Craig looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘But I didn’t do it’, a statement he has repeated publicly and privately again and again.”
There were rumours the couple’s relationship — Thomson’s third marriage — was crumbling under the strain of the saga and they had recently split but a mutual acquaintance said they were very much still together as of late last week.
