Seafood is synonymous with Australian Christmas.
And this year, the country’s major supermarkets have given Aussies the ultimate Christmas gift – discounts on seafood.
Coles customers can snap up prized WA rock lobster for $22 cooked or raw tails from $21 or $23, depending on the location, from Wednesday.
Shoppers can also get thawed large WA cooked rock lobsters for $50 each in more than 500 stores nationally. And for the first time, Tasmanians can get their hands on southern rock lobsters for $48 each.
Woolworths is also offering great savings on WA rock lobster at $22, down from $24 last week and $29 last Christmas.
Aldi has two frozen lobster tails with garlic butter for just $34.99
The ever-popular prawns are sure to be a hit too with Coles customers expected to purchase 720,000 kilograms of prawns leading up to Christmas – 10 times as many prawns as bought in an average week at Coles.
Coles is offering fresh Australian cooked black tiger prawns for $29/kg, down from $33/kg, available from Wednesday nationally except in WA.
There are also Australian wild caught banana prawns for $22/kg or thawed Australian extra large black tiger prawns for $30/kg at Coles.
Woolworths shoppers can get 100% Australian Crystal Bay cooked tiger prawns (freezer) for $25/kg, down from $27/kg last Christmas.
Aldi customers can get 1kg of large cooked Australian tiger prawns frozen for $24.99 or 400g of butterflied garlic and herb prawns for $12.99.
Andy Mossop, Coles Executive General Manager for Fresh, said customers bought 70 per cent more seafood in December compared to other months.
“More than 70 per cent of our customers have told us price is the most important factor when shopping for Christmas products, so we’ve worked hard with our fantastic partners to provide the best quality, responsibility sources seafood, while keeping prices as low as possible,” he said.
Other Christmas feast deals at Woolies include Woolworths half leg ham for $8.50/kg, boneless roast pork loin for $12/kg, Woolworths pavlova base for $5.40, mangoes from $1.90 each (from Wednesday) and RSPCA approved fresh whole turkey for $8/kg.
Meanwhile, Coles has Christmas hams from $8/kg and for the rest of Tuesday you can get an extra $5 off. You can also get Coles pavlova for $5.40 or Coles Finest Luxury Christmas Pudding for $12.50.
