AS locals reveal some of their favourite things about WA, one thing is clear. Sandgropers love relaxing.

Kings Park, Rottnest, our beaches and WA’s South West are just some of the things PerthNow readers revealed as their favourite parts of our state.

Enjoying food, wine and coffee in our usually pristine weather are high on the list of things we enjoy most.

Tourism Minister Liza Harvey urged West Australians to drop the pessimism and talk up the state when they travel in an exclusive interview in today’s Sunday Times.

Ms Harvey said the Government can spend tens of millions of dollars on advertising campaigns and tourism operators can work endlessly — but it means nothing if average West Australians aren’t willing to play their part as ambassadors.

Using the hashtag #talkupWA, PerthNow has found dozens of WA locals who are totally smitten for our beautiful state.

Many identified Kings Park and the beach as their favourite places to go in WA.

Other locations included The Pinnacles, Margaret River, Fremantle, Esperance, the Pilbara and Shark Bay.

When asked what they loved about being a Sandgroper, many said it was the relaxed lifestyle that pulled on their heartstrings.
