A team of 30 volunteers may have played a part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by delivering 100 hygiene packs to the community — including to some people who had tested positive to the virus.
Volunteering Geelong CEO Helen Hunter said another 100 packs would be delivered this week.
“Our volunteers have been able to provide contactless delivery of hygiene essentials by dropping them at the doorsteps of people isolating at home while waiting for test results, or those people with a positive case of COVID-19,” Ms Hunter said.
Volunteer Vaughan Lamb said it was heartwarming to see the relief on the faces of people receiving the packs.
The packs contain sanitiser, disinfectant, disposable gloves, and disposable masks. More than half of the packs deliver have been to homes in isolation as part of a state government initiative.
Other packs have gone to international students, the elderly, retrenched workers, low- income families and volunteer agencies.
