Ultimate guide: Christmas week shopping on the Gold Coast
Still on the hunt for Christmas gifts? Here’s your ultimate guide to when the shops and markets are open, and where you can buy locally made gifts.
Gold Coast
Don't miss out on the headlines from Gold Coast. Followed categories will be added to My News.
The scene is set for Robina Pavilion’s first community Christmas Markets this weekend – packed full of locally made gifts.
Robina Pavilion general manager Damien Stephen said he was excited to host more than 20 Gold Coast retailers despite the unpredictable weather.
“It’s a fantastic way to get in the Christmas spirit and we are excited to spread some Christmas cheer,” he said.
“I have a good feeling we are going to have decent weather, but if the rain comes we are prepared and we will still go ahead with the festivities.”
Handmade jewellery, boutique candles, one-off wares, gourmet foods and florals will be on sale from 6am to 12pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Markeri Food Centre Community Christmas Market will also come alight on Saturday from 4pm with festive food, live entertainment, face painting, jumping castles, market trade stalls and dance lessons with Dancing with the Star instructor Csaba Szirmai.
FULL DIGITAL ACCESS: JUST $5 A MONTH FOR THE FIRST THREE MONTHS
Festive cuisine from Project Tokyo, Lucky Bao, and Woodfire Pizza will also be available.
Organiser Jenny Yuen, who also owns Yuen’s Fresh Market, said she decided to rally everyone together in the centre to finish 2020 “with a bang after a horrendous year”.
Other festive havens to check out include the Broadwater Parklands’ Christmas Markets GC on Sunday, December 20 and the Christmas edition of Palm Beach Farmers’ Market at Currumbin High from 6am on Thursday, December 24.
HERE’S A FEW GOLD COAST STORES THAT SELL LOCALLY MADE GIFTS.
Corinne Russell, who owns artisan store Heartfill, encourages Gold Coasters to spend sustainably.
“We’d love for people to be more mindful with what they’re buying this Christmas by shopping within their postcode and looking after the community and economy,” Ms Russell says.
“2020 has been a year where people have realised what’s most important and banding together as a community is what gets us through tough times.”

“We’re all about doing good in our hood and we’re here to help Gold Coast locals do the same,” owner Sarah Miller said.
“Our plan is to challenge how people shop and encourage them to keep their hard-earned dollars in the local economy and support other locals.
“We want to educate consumers to be more conscious of how they shop, to think carefully about every purchase and how they can have a positive impact on our small communities and local economies.”
