A RAILWAY employee has been caught secretly filming commuters using a disabled toilet at a busy Sydney train station.

A RAIL employee has been caught secretly filming commuters using a disabled toilet at a busy Sydney train station.

The man, 53, was arrested by Police Transport Command officers after a 19-year-old woman noticed a camera inside a toilet cubicle for the disabled at Rockdale railway station.

Police said the man allegedly hid a camera in a box and placed it on top of a bin inside the toilet cubicle.

The teenage commuter using the toilet discovered the camera with the lens pointed at her. She immediately reported it to police.

About 3.45pm yesterday, police arrested the Sydney Trains worker.

The man was charged with filming a person’s private parts without consent and installing a device for that same purpose.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Kogarah Local Court on March 31.

Sydney Trains has also started an internal inquiry into the man’s alleged actions, but would not confirm the man’s occupation or if he had been stood down pending his appearance in court.

In a statement a Sydney Trains spokesman said the organisation “holds its staff to the highest standards and code of conduct”.

“Sydney Trains will continue to assist NSW Police with their investigation and complete an internal investigation,” the spokesman said.
