“We closed in March, while COVID was happening, we reopened about (three) months ago now,” he said.

“The general consensus from the local community is it’s what Kingston needed.

“There’s a lot of young people moving here from the mainland as well as the older generation who want something a bit more refined.”

Among the standout dishes is the “Keto Breaky”.

“It’s a winner on two levels, it’s dish that’s obviously friendly to people on the keto diet, but it’s also the Millennials favourite dish, it’s got mushrooms, it’s got haloumi, it’s got sour cream, it’s got scrambled eggs, it’s got heirloom tomatoes, so it reads super-well on the menu,” Mr McQuade said.

“We have a big huge emphasis on local, from the customer, all the way down to the produce.”

Barista-made coffee and house-made bloody marys – made with freshly juiced tomatoes – are also winners with the breakfast and brunch crowd.

Front of house manager Erin Webb said big smiles from the staff and a feeling of community kept patrons coming back

“The biggest feedback would be the customer service, the friendly smile, the food and the whole package – people are just ecstatic,” she said.

“Every single day people are walking back out with the biggest smiles on their faces and they’re absolutely over the moon we’ve brought this down to the community.”
