LNP’s transport spokesman Steve Minnikin has slammed Ports North senior executives for paying themselves hefty bonuses despite a net loss of $12.2 million. Revealed in the Ports North annual report tabled last week chief executive Chris Boland’s total package increased by $33,926 to nearly $400,000 while corporate services general manager Kerry Egerton’s pay rose $44,146 and planning and infrastructure general manager Alan Vico received a $23,069 bonus.
Mr Minnikin said Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk needed to explain why performance bonuses were paid and approved by Treasurer Jackie Trad and Transport Minister Mark Bailey, who said: “Any reading of Ports North’s annual report clearly shows their budget was impacted by one-off expenses associated with that massive jobs-generating project to bring more visitors and more tourism to Cairns.”
