Thieves have ransacked a home in Sydney’s affluent lower north shore but left jewellery, electronics and cash behind instead taking toilet paper and a snowboard.
NSW Police believe the theft occurred sometime during June 30 and July 1, between 11am and 3.45pm.
NSW North Shore Police Area Command posted a meme about the incident on their Facebook on Tuesday afternoon.
“Tell me Sydney is in lockdown, without telling me Sydney is in lockdown,” it said.
“Artarmon break and enter. 40 rolls of toilet paper stolen, expensive camping equipment untouched.”
The suburb is one of Sydney’s poshest – with a median house price of $2,575,000.
In a statement, police said thieves forced their way into a home on Francis St.
“The offenders accessed a storage cage at the property and managed to make off with a snowboard as well as a large box of toilet paper belonging to the residents,” it said.
The left comes as Sydney endure a three-week-long lockdown. At the start of the lockdown, Premier Gladys Berejiklian asked people not to panic-buy but this was largely ignored.
Social media users managed to find the funny side of the theft.
“Police are attempting to get to the bottom of this,” one man wrote on Facebook.
“What’s the correlation between the snowboard and the toilet paper? Skid marks?” a woman wrote.
“No, this is embarrassingly perfect,” another woman said.
An NSW Police spokeswoman said they are investigating the incident.
